In our Eulingu concept, we distinguish between two complementary language variants:
Striktu - the main formal language, is clearly structured, consistent, and easy to learn – ideal for education, administration, and cross-border communication.
Slangu - on the other hand, is the lived, emotional expression of language. It allows for stylistic freedom, identification, regional influences, and social nuances.
Together, Striktu i Slangu form a flexible language system that enables both functionality and cultural depth – a tool for understanding and belonging for a multilingual Europe.
1. Strict Grammar vs. Lively Communication:
The distinction between Striktu (a rule-based, clear standard language) and Slangu (a lived, emotional variant) reflects a reality we also observe in natural languages – for example, between Standard German and dialects, or between Standard French and the French "argot," or colloquial language.
2. European Identity through Linguistic Diversity:
By weaving in elements from Germanic, Romance, and Slavic languages, a foundation is created that is intuitively accessible to many Europeans. Striktu provides structural clarity for formal contexts (e.g., administration, education), while Slangu enables cultural proximity and emotional depth in everyday communication.
3. Sociolinguistic Realism:
This proposal recognizes that language is more than grammar – it is also affiliation, emotion, and style. An artificial language that ignores this aspect often remains "foreign." The Slangu concept addresses exactly this and creates space for personal, creative language use without sacrificing comprehensibility.
